Precise Relative-Positioning

Positioning sensor data relative to subsea structures

Many integrity management surveys, such as contactless cathodic protection, require positioning relative to the structure being surveyed. Zupt’s 3D Recon provides this positioning for external ROV-mounted sensors.

How 3D Recon Supports External Sensors

3D Recon provides real-time, sub-centimeter positioning relative to the structure for external sensors interfaced with the subsea vehicle.

The system also generates sparse and dense point clouds, onto which data from the external sensors can be overlaid.

Relative Positioning and Survey Data

By providing positioning relative to the structure, 3D Recon eliminates the need for a complicated ROV positioning solution for this purpose. The point clouds provide a way to place the external sensor data in the context of the surveyed structure.
