Company Profile
We are an advanced surveying services and technologies company working in the energy industry. We provide services within the renewables (offshore wind), subsea (oil and gas), integrity management and land sectors using instruments and tools that we have developed internally for these markets. One of our core activities is providing inertial metrology services that have been proven to save an average of 50% vessel time compared to conventional methods. We also have an exciting new subsea 3D modeling tool that combines images with inertial data to build spatially correct digital models of subsea assets.
Position Summary
Zupt is looking for entry level offshore survey engineers to join us and work in this exciting international industry.
This full-time position is divided between the office and offshore work. Offshore, you will be working on a variety of survey vessels, platforms or rigs and could be traveling for extended periods away from home for up to a maximum of 30 (+/-) days in one trip. Travel will be domestic and international. Including, but not limited to the Gulf of Mexico, North Sea, Europe, West Africa (Ghana, Congo, Nigeria, Angola), Australia, South America, etc.
We will train you and cover all costs for you to obtain mandatory offshore safety training certificates, medical exams that are required for you to work in the offshore industry.
In the office you will be working with our engineering team developing and testing existing and new tools/systems under development.
This position is not a remote job. Zupt headquarters is in NW Houston, TX.
Your Offshore Responsibilities & Duties
• Assist the offshore party chief with equipment interfacing and data processing while offshore
• Responsible for data collection and data processing while offshore.
• Operating hydrographic survey sensors including inertial navigation systems, GNSS systems, pressure transducers, water property profilers (CTDs)
• Processing data to the final deliverable including 2D Drafting using CAD.
• Develop core competencies surrounding offshore survey data acquisition and processing.
• Complying with company and HSE safety rules and training
Requirements
Essential
• A 2 year Associates Degree, or a 4 year undergraduate Degree in a STEM subject OR several years of very relevant experience
• Must be able to obtain a valid passport, driver's license and other offshore work required documents
• Must be able to obtain a COVID vaccination as this is is required for travel.
• Must pass an offshore medical examination.
• Knowledge of the fundamentals of CAD
• Keen interest in international travel
• Analytical background and ability to write and use macros in Excel
• Able to write reports and communicate clearly.
Preferred
• BSc in Mechanical or Electrical engineering
• Experience in survey operations (for land, offshore or hydrographic survey)
