Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company (GLDD), the largest provider of dredging services in the United States, has awarded Zupt a contract to provide survey systems documentation, installation services, and commissioning activities aboard the SRIV Acadia. The vessel is currently under construction at Philly Shipyard for GLDD's Offshore Energy division.

Zupt's involvement reflects its expanded capabilities in survey contracting and consulting, providing engineering services associated with the vessel's survey systems. Zupt's scope of work includes the development of engineering documentation, vessel-specific operational procedures, technical drawings, and installation planning, as well as participation in the installation, integration, commissioning, calibration, and dimensional control of the vessel's survey equipment spread. This work contributes to the Acadia's readiness for offshore construction operations, including subsea rock installation in support of U.S. offshore wind development.

Designed by Ulstein, the Acadia is a Subsea Rock Installation Vessel (SRIV) and will be the first U.S.-flagged, Jones Act-compliant inclined fallpipe vessel in the U.S. commercial fleet. Measuring 140.5 meters (461 feet) in length and capable of carrying up to 20,000 metric tons of rock, the vessel represents a significant advancement in U.S. offshore construction capability.

The project is being executed in close coordination with GLDD throughout the engineering, installation, and commissioning phases, supported by structured project management and regular reporting. Survey systems will be integrated with the vessel's dynamic positioning infrastructure to enable precise positioning, monitoring, and data acquisition during offshore operations.

This contract highlights Zupt's ability to deliver a broad range of survey engineering and integration services for complex offshore vessels, reinforcing its role as an independent technical partner to operators and contractors across marine construction and offshore energy projects.

Zupt brings more than 20 years of experience delivering solutions in offshore surface and subsea instrumentation, surveying, and positioning. Based in Houston, Texas, Zupt has completed projects in over 20 countries across both the oil and gas and renewable energy sectors, working with major operators, tier-one offshore installation contractors, and independent survey and service companies. Zupt's role on these projects focuses on system integration, documentation, procedures, and execution, independent of equipment supply.
